ROTTO PGIMER collaborated with Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32,Chandigarh and organised a launch ceremony to kick off a two month long campaign on Organ Donation which witnessed a positive response among the participants.

Sh. VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Other senior officials present during the programme included Sh. ParimalRai, UT Adviser, Sh. AnuragAggarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary.

Hon’ble Governor shared that so many people die daily from chronic diseases, due to non-availability of organs. This burden is huge and unfortunately the donor turnout is less in India whereas in Croatia there is the highest organ donation rate. He concluded by saying thatthe Chandigarh administration has decided to set up State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) in GMCH-32, Chandigarh. The city’s impressive literacy rate would help in creating awareness about the cause.

Dr. VipinKoushal, Nodal Officer, ROTTO also shared hisperspective on initiatives undertaken by the Govt. to promote this noble cause. The event was attended by over 800 participants representing education, corporate, NGOs and civil society representatives.
